Travails of a mother with a “differently-enabled” kid

An aunt of mine, on my mother’s side, delivered a still-born baby – her first, several years back. She was traumatized by that and perhaps carries those memories even now. After that, she became a mother of two sons and due to a complication in the birth of the older one, his mental growth suffered even as he physically grew. He also had seizures well into his late teens and although he is far better than what he was before, my aunt still worries about him as he is not exactly “normal”.

It is hard to be the mother of a kid with any kind of disability and I have seen it in the case of my aunt. With the increased use of advanced medical technologies, it is now possible to detect such abnormalities early on during pregnancy and appropriate steps taken to remedy any birth-related defect before it gets out of hand.
